Topic 6h - ML and Ocean Data For Human health
This application performs a novel study where machine learning (ML) is used to link environmental state to the risk of cholera occurrence. It is a rare example of Copernicus marine data being used to link directly to a possible human health outcome. The question addressed is highly relevant to large numbers of people. Marine data is shown to be of particular value in this analysis, showcasing the need for marine EO. ML is fundamental to the work; as it is inherently multivariate.
This data approach can be used by organisations such as - WHO, MSF, NGOs, national health authorities, disaster planning authorities, medical supply chain managers, water management authorities, epidemiologists and the general public.
