Topic 3b - Building Internal Knowledge Sharing and Communities of Practice

Knowledge sharing is the means by which solutions get from point A to point B. Solutions are frequently left behind, hidden in remote rural communities or tucked away in the heads of officials and development practitioners who have moved on to the next big task, rather than being documented and shared. The knowledge gained from development solutions is always at risk of being forgotten or lost. As a result, it's critical that knowledge gained in a particular local context be adapted, scaled up, and replicated.

At the World Bank, the Geospatial Operations Support Team (GOST) is creating a set of services and resources to help make geospatial data useful and accessible across the World Bank. GOST is also working to help World Bank projects use geospatial data for Monitoring & Evaluation indicators.

In this film, we hear about some of the initiatives undertaken by the World Bank to enable knowledge exchange, skills development and awareness raising about the applications of Earth Observation data, both within the Bank and with external partners.

Quizzes

Quizzes: At the end of each Chapter (and in the middle of Chapter 2) there will be a quiz consisting of around five questions. These will help you consolidate your understanding of new topics, but are not scored. The feedback given with answers will also provide you with important information. These quizzes are informal and therefore there is no formal scoring.

Certificate

Participation certificates are available for this MOOC, you can request one using the form at the end of the course.
